Men: God Designed with a Mission in Mind
By Dexter Sullivan

Some time ago, the Lord put a question on my heart. It was a rhetorical one. It was a question He didn't really need to ask, because He already knew the answer. The question came with great intensity and push from the very center of my being, “What is the mission?”

When I heard this, I immediately knew there was MORE for me to find out.

Today, I'd like to ask you the same question,

“What is your mission?

As men it is important to ask ourselves every once in a while, what exactly our mission is? What are we here for – right now ? What is our purpose? Who am I, Lord?

Our make-up as men [in particular] is one of awesome design. God designed man in His very image and in His likeness (Genesis 1:27 ) – we are a spirit, having a soul, living in a body. We are to have dominion in the earth just as Jesus did. Along with this, He created every man with a distinct purpose in mind.

As Godly men, we play vital roles in our family, church, business world, communities and just about every walk of life one could imagine.

Our roles are primary and necessary . If you're not getting this by now – we are important! Men, we have purpose!

I'd like to share with you three important points:

  • Our primary purpose is to become born-again and receive our son-ship with Christ.
  • Secondly, the destiny for our lives will become clearer with time spent meditating God's word.
  • Thirdly, achieving our purpose and destiny all depends on what we allow our thoughts to dwell on. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he (Proverbs 23:7).

Men, it's our responsibility as real men to seek out our purpose , discover our God-given potential and run with the vision . We need all three to be successful. I once heard,

The purpose of a thing is always found in the mind of the creator of the thing .”

In other words, the purpose, potential and vision of a man, derives from his Creator; God. Man comes from the very depths of God's heart.

Like Father, like Son

We were created to look like God and to exemplify his traits. If we're going to exemplify His image, our traits must follow His; love, godliness, holiness, patience, endurance, strength, miraculous ability, courage, honor, worth, riches, glory, majesty – we could go on forever.

Maybe your saying, “… But how in the world will I ever be like this? I mean… do you really expect me to be like God?”

You may even say this to be “impossible!” Men, the new promise we have in Christ's blood grants us [as sons] special rights and privileges that aren't awarded to nobodies. We're in the God-class. But this only belongs to those who have chosen the Lord and those who choose to continually live, and walk as Christ did in the earth (Romans 8:16 -21; Phil. 2:5).

Men, today I encourage you to make a quality decision in your heart to walk as Christ did in the earth. If we really want unfading answers to our desire to know more about our mission and if it's possible to live out our mission, we have to go to God. He is our way.

Only He can give us truth.

He's the only one who can give us the plan. And His plan for our lives is forever and it's filled with abundance and blessing. It's up to us to find out more about it and then go do it!
